Quarter-Finals vs Portugal

This game was a match up of two very similar teams. Both knew each other very well. For Greece it was also a chance to avenge a loss from the 2011 Worlds and the win would advance them to the Semi-Finals and at least a top 4 finish.
The game started slightly cautious for both sides, but Greece broke the deadlock as rookie Peter Giannoumis notched his first ever goal at the world stage.
During the 2nd period Portugal responded with the equalizer and started to control the play in the Greek zone for the next few minutes. However captain George Nistas put a beautiful shot away on a breakaway to give his squad the lead. That was followed with goals from Josh Barbas, Mike Barbas, and Peter Karvouniaris giving the Greeks a comfortable 5-1 lead with only a few minutes left.
Portugal scored a second with one min left but the game was done by then.
Final Greece 5 Portugal 2.
Next match is the semi-finals vs the undefeated USA. This will probably be the toughest match to date for the Greeks.
